Round Hill
Supremely elegant Round Hill sits on a hill slope above its own section of white sand cove just few miles to the west of Montego Bay.
Since opening in 1953 hotel became a veritable playground for the rich and famous. Framed black-and-white photos of notable guests—from Paul McCartney with an infant Stella to Michael Douglas—hang on the walls. John F. Kennedy even holed up here to write his inaugural speech.
Hotel’s 36 rooms are all in Pineapple House right on the beach and styled by Ralph Lauren, who also owns one of the villas. His philosophy in the decor posits that nature should be the focus of any space.
Villas overlook the bay, each of the 26 rentable options are individually owned, and range from two to six bedrooms.
Flagship restaurant at Round Hill, also designed by Ralph Lauren, serves up fresh Caribbean food with ingredients from the onsite organic gardens.
Round Hill looks after children well through its Pineapple Kids’ Club and 7-Up Club.
A range of activities is available in the vicinity of the hotel and around Montego Bay, from plantation houses to golf and river rafting on the Great River or Martha Brae, or zip lines that will keep any children amused.
